Letters From The Heart of The Principal

From the Heart of the Principal: Sept. 26th, 2022

Dear John H. Amesse families,

I would like to begin sending a brief weekly note to update you on what we are doing at John H. Amesse to engage families and progress towards our school-wide goals.  The note will be called, “From the Heart of the Principal” because, as I have shared on a few occasions; my personal values are based in love for our students and for our community.  I truly believe that humility, feedback and rigor are expressions of that love that will move our students and our community forward towards our goals to live out our values, to reach academic excellence, and to become positive changemakers in Montbello and beyond.

New Dismissal Procedures Rationale

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your patience as we have been refining our new dismissal procedures.  The park behind our school is a public park, which means that we cannot restrict access to it during dismissal.  We made the shift in order to limit the amount of families dismissing from the back, so that we can safely connect students with their families.  In addition, in anticipation of colder weather; we wanted to design a dismissal method that would help students get to driving parents in a more efficient manner.  Although the change caused delays at first, we are now finding that the system is completed by 3:10 p.m.  This is due to our dedicated staff and your work to support the change.  In inclement weather, car riders will wait safely in the auditorium and will walk to their cars from inside the building- ensuring their safe and quick transition to your cars.
